About the MCSL-222 assignment
The MCSL-222 assignment covers object-oriented analysis and design through UML diagrams, alongside web application development. Tasks include modelling examination, banking, re-registration and ATM systems, plus building student-profile and workshop-registration applications with database access and security controls.
There are two compulsory sections worth 20 marks each. The OOAD section has four diagram tasks worth 5 marks each; the Web Technologies section has two programming tasks worth 10 marks each. Lab records contribute another 40 marks, split equally between the sections, and the compulsory viva carries 20 marks. Programs must be executed, with logic, sample input and output, and documentation submitted.
What the assignment asks
| Question | Marks | Topic |
|---|---|---|
| Section 1, Q1 (i) | 5 | Create a class diagram for a distributed, multi-tier online examination system showing administrative roles and runtime assessment constraints. |
| Section 1, Q1 (ii) | 5 | Design a deployment diagram for decentralized online banking infrastructure showing hardware tiers, protocol wrappers and security zones. |
| Section 1, Q1 (iii) | 5 | Model the lifecycle, event triggers and transaction guard conditions of an IGNOU MCA re-registration and fee-payment subsystem using a state machine diagram. |
| Section 1, Q1 (iv) | 5 | Create an ATM sequence diagram showing ordered synchronous and asynchronous interactions, including conditional exception frames. |
| Section 2, Q1 (i) | 10 | Build a JSP and JDBC application that verifies students through an enrolment or mobile number and securely updates contact details, stating database schema and connection assumptions. |
| Section 2, Q1 (ii) | 10 | Develop a layered Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA workshop-registration and fee-payment application with CRUD operations, authentication, role-based access and payment-status restrictions, listing necessary assumptions. |
This is a summary of each question. Download the official PDF above for the exact questions and word limits.
How to write and submit it
- Answer every question in both sections; illustrations and diagrams may be used to support explanations.
- Execute the programs and submit their logic, sample input and output, and necessary documentation.
- Make assumptions where necessary, including the database and connection assumptions requested in the JSP task and the assumptions for the workshop application.
- Follow the Programme Guide for the assignment presentation format.
- MCA_NEW students must submit to their Study Centre Coordinator, while MCAOL students must submit through the LMS portal, by the applicable deadline.
- Timely assignment submission is compulsory for the corresponding term-end examinations; lab practical eligibility also requires the minimum attendance specified in the Programme Guide.
- Attend the compulsory assignment viva; submitting the assignment without attending the viva results in zero marks and an unsuccessful assignment.
Submission dates: 15 April 2027 (June term-end exam; January 2027 session); 31 October 2026 (December term-end exam; July 2026 session).
Frequently asked questions
Which sessions does the MCSL-222 assignment cover?
It covers July 2026 and January 2027 for the MCA_NEW and MCAOL programmes.
What are the MCSL-222 submission deadlines?
The deadline is 31 October 2026 for the July 2026 session and December term-end exam, and 15 April 2027 for the January 2027 session and June term-end exam.
How are the 100 marks distributed?
Each of the two sections carries 20 marks. Lab records carry 40 marks, with 20 marks for each section, and the viva carries the remaining 20 marks. The assignment weightage is 30%.
Are all questions and the viva compulsory?
Yes. All questions in both sections must be answered. The viva is compulsory, and missing it after submitting the assignment results in zero marks.
What must accompany the web application programs?
Submit the executed programs with their logic, sample input and output, and necessary documentation. State the database schema and connection assumptions for the JSP application and list necessary assumptions for the workshop application.
Where should students submit the MCSL-222 assignment?
MCA_NEW students submit to their Study Centre Coordinator. MCAOL students submit through the LMS portal.
