About the MCS-208 assignment
The MCS-208 assignment covers binary trees, bipartite graphs, linked-list representations and hash tables. It asks students to develop algorithms, explain a graph property and analyse an algorithm’s running time.
There are four written questions worth 20 marks each, making 80 marks in total. The remaining 20 marks are for a compulsory viva voce. Algorithms should use notation close to C, and illustrations or diagrams may be included where helpful.
What the assignment asks
| Question | Marks | Topic |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | 20 | Develop an algorithm that outputs binary-tree node data level by level, moving from left to right within each level. |
| Q2 | 20 | Demonstrate why every tree satisfies the conditions of a bipartite graph. |
| Q3 | 20 | Design a linked-list representation for a list allowing insertion at both ends and deletion at only one end, including algorithms and initial and boundary conditions. |
| Q4 | 20 | Develop and analyse an algorithm for listing hash-table identifiers in lexicographic order when hashing uses the first character and collisions use linear probing. |
This is a summary of each question. Download the official PDF above for the exact questions and word limits.
How to write and submit it
- Write algorithms in a form close to the C programming language.
- Use illustrations or diagrams where they help explain your work.
- Follow the assignment presentation guidelines in the Programme Guide.
- BCA_NEW students must submit their assignments to their Study Centre Coordinator by the deadline.
- BCAOL students must submit their assignments through the LMS portal by the deadline.
- Submitting assignments on time is compulsory for eligibility to appear in the corresponding term-end examinations.
- Attend the compulsory assignment viva voce; submitting the written work without attending the viva results in zero marks and an unsuccessful assignment.
