• General conditions: Applicants must be Indian citizens, of sound mind and must not have more than one living spouse.
• Odia: MIL Odia up to Middle English standard is required. Applicants without this qualification may apply but must clear the prescribed BSE Odisha Odia examination within three years of joining.
• Principal: A recognized Master's degree with at least 45% aggregate marks, an NCTE-prescribed B.Ed. from an appropriately recognized institution, and the notified administrative or teaching experience are required. Experience routes include an analogous Principal-level post; the specified Vice-Principal/Assistant Education Officer route with 3 years as PGT and 2 years as Vice-Principal; 7 years of regular PGT/Lecturer service in the prescribed grade; or 10 years of combined regular TGT and PGT service with at least 3 years as PGT.
• PGT English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics: A two-year integrated postgraduate course or Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, reduced to 45% for SC/ST/SEBC/PwD candidates, together with B.Ed. Subject equivalence and any graduation-level subject conditions must match the notification.
• PGT Computer Science: M.Sc. Computer Science/IT, MCA or M.E./M.Tech Computer Science/IT with at least 50% aggregate marks, or 45% for SC/ST/SEBC/PwD. Teaching proficiency in Odia and English is required; B.Ed. or an equivalent degree must be acquired for subsequent promotion.
• TGT: The prescribed four-year integrated degree in the relevant subject, or the relevant Bachelor's degree with B.Ed./three-year integrated B.A. B.Ed., is required with at least 50% aggregate marks, or 45% for SC/ST/SEBC/PwD. Candidates must satisfy the subject-specific combinations and pass OSSTET/OTET Paper-II or CTET Paper-II, as applicable.
• Art Teacher: A recognized Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts/Visual Arts with the prescribed aggregate marks and the ability to teach in Odia and English is required.
• Physical Education Teacher: A recognized Degree/Postgraduate Degree in Physical Education, such as B.P.Ed./M.P.Ed., with the prescribed percentage and proficiency in Odia and English is required.
• Computer Teacher: The accepted routes are B.E./B.Tech Computer Science or IT, M.Sc. IT, M.Sc. Computer Science, DOEACC/NIELIT 'B' Level in Computer Science, BCA or B.Sc. Computer Science, with the prescribed marks and ability to teach in English and Odia.
• Special B.Ed. and D.Ed. are not accepted for the specified Principal, PGT and TGT posts. Qualification percentages cannot be rounded off.

• Download the generated application carrying the unique registration number and retain the fee receipt.

Recruitment scope

OAVS, under Odisha's School & Mass Education Department, is filling 815 regular posts through Advertisement No. 1/2026. Appointments cover Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas and Odisha Mining Adarsha Vidyalayas. Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in Odisha and must commit through a bond to at least two years of service from joining.

Qualifications differ substantially between Principal, postgraduate, trained graduate and specialist teaching posts. Principal applicants need a Master's degree, B.Ed. and qualifying experience. TGT applicants must meet the relevant subject combination and teacher eligibility test requirement. Applicants should not round off qualification percentages. Special B.Ed. and D.Ed. are excluded for the specified Principal, PGT and TGT posts.

Registration runs from 12 October 2026 until 11 November 2026 at 5:00 PM. Use a valid email address and mobile number to register, then complete personal and qualification details. Choose three preferred CBT cities; the authority may allocate another city for administrative reasons. Upload the photograph and signature, pay through SBI e-Pay and retain both the generated application and fee receipt. No paper application or supporting-document package needs to be sent to OAVS.

Understand the tests

The Principal CBT has 180 questions for 180 marks over 180 minutes. Its language section requires at least 5 marks each in English and Odia and 13 marks combined before the remaining sections are evaluated. Principal final merit assigns 70% weightage to CBT Parts II–IV and 30% to interview.

PGT, TGT, PET, Art Teacher and Computer Teacher tests follow a 200-question, 200-minute structure. Incorrect answers attract a 0.25-mark deduction. PGT, TGT and PET final merit uses 70% CBT Parts II–III and 30% interview. Art Teacher and Computer Teacher merit uses 50% CBT Parts II–III, 20% performance test and 30% interview. Examination dates are not specified.

Verification and appointment conditions

Original documents and self-attested copies are required at verification. Government, Semi-Government and PSU employees must produce an NOC at document verification/interview. For the CBT, candidates must carry a printed E-Admit Card and valid original photo ID. TGT Social Studies, PET and Art Teacher recruitment remain subject to the respective court cases identified in the notification, and vacancy numbers may change.
