Principal recruitment under Advertisement No. 08/2026

UPESSC, Prayagraj, is recruiting Principals for aided non-government schools in Uttar Pradesh. This advertisement covers 1,475 posts, all unreserved, and the vacancy count may increase or decrease. The post carries Level-12 pay ranging from ₹78,800 to ₹2,09,200. School-wise requisitions appear in the Principal notification from pages 15 to 62.

Check eligibility before registering

Applicants need a postgraduate degree with at least 50% marks, an NCTE-recognised B.Ed. and four years of the specified teaching or High School Headmaster experience. The required qualifications must be held by the application acceptance deadline. Experience certificates must follow Appendix-2 and carry the prescribed official authentication. Female candidates can apply for either boys' or girls' institutions but must select only one category; male candidates are not eligible for Principal appointments in girls' institutions.

Complete the online process

Applications opened on 23 October 2026 through the compulsory OTR system. Complete the English-language form, upload the prescribed files, pay ₹2,000 and submit the application by 22 November 2026. Save the fee receipt and three application printouts. Two application copies, together with two separate sets of supporting documents, will be required at interview.

The correction facility closes on 25 November 2026, but it does not permit changes to specified details such as date of birth, gender and category after final submission. If multiple applications are submitted for the same post, only the last one is considered.

Examination and interview

The written examination on 7 January 2027 carries 360 marks, followed by a 40-mark interview. Candidates receive two hours for 120 objective questions. Correct answers earn three marks each, while wrong or multiple responses incur a one-mark deduction. Use a black ball point pen for the OMR sheet.

Exam district information will be published ten days before the test, with admit cards available three days beforehand. Centre changes are not permitted. Shortlisted candidates must bring original documents and the required self-attested copies for interview; without originals, the interview will not take place. Employed applicants must produce their employer's NOC when requested.
