About the CTE-05 assignment
The CTE-05 assignment covers English teaching at the secondary-school level. It explores inclusive classroom practices, language learning, listening activities, study skills, grammar games, and the teaching of homophones and homographs. The tasks connect course concepts with classroom teaching.
This tutor-marked assignment has five compulsory questions worth 20 marks each. Question 1 requires short notes on any four of five topics. The remaining questions involve explanation, comparison and activity design. The grammar game designed for Question 4 must take students no more than 15 minutes to complete.
What the assignment asks
| Question | Marks | Topic |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | 4X5=20 | Write short notes on four topics chosen from teaching underprivileged children, pair and group work, teacher support for special needs, effective language learners, and the composition-writing process. |
| Q2 | 20 | Compare extensive and intensive listening and identify the qualities of an effective listening task. |
| Q3 | 20 | Explain study skills and their contribution to students’ learning. |
| Q4 | 20 | Discuss the benefits of grammar games and design one for a previously taught grammar item that students can complete within 15 minutes. |
| Q5 | 20 | Use examples to distinguish homophones from homographs and create two tasks to teach the distinction. |
This is a summary of each question. Download the official PDF above for the exact questions and word limits.

- Submit the assignment to your Study Centre on time, retain a copy and obtain a submission receipt; submission is required before appearing in the term-end examination.
