About the CTE-03 assignment
The CTE-03 assignment covers strategies for teaching English, including listening, reading difficulties, spoken-language activities, grammar and writing. It also examines how teaching materials are evaluated and asks students to apply their understanding through activities, examples and lesson planning.
This tutor-marked assignment carries 100 marks and contains five compulsory questions. The first requires short notes on any four of five topics. Questions 2–5 carry 20 marks each and cover listening lessons, grammar teaching, an analytical-essay lesson plan and materials evaluation.
What the assignment asks
| Question | Marks | Topic |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | 4X5=-20 | Write short notes on four topics chosen from real-life listening, learners’ reading difficulties, simulation and role play, fluency and accuracy, and the meaning of grammar. |
| Q2 | 20 | Compare intensive and extensive listening comprehension and suggest activities for all three stages of a listening lesson. |
| Q3 | 20 | Discuss approaches to grammar teaching, explain recent changes in this area and give your views on those changes. |
| Q4 | 20 | Describe approaches to teaching writing and prepare a lesson plan for teaching analytical-essay writing. |
| Q5 | 20 | Distinguish internal from external evaluation of teaching materials and explain the need for evaluation using examples. |
This is a summary of each question. Download the official PDF above for the exact questions and word limits.
