About the CTE-01 assignment
The CTE-01 assignment explores how people learn languages and how teachers can understand learners. It covers aptitude, human communication, language processing, learning theories, learner factors, language disorders, teaching approaches and the Three-Language Formula.
This tutor-marked assignment has five compulsory questions worth 100 marks. Each question carries 20 marks. For Question 1, students choose two of four short-note topics, worth 10 marks each. The remaining four questions require discussion or explanation. No word limits are specified.
What the assignment asks
| Question | Marks | Topic |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | 10+10=20 | Write short notes on any two topics: aptitude measurement, characteristics of human communication, language storage and comprehension, or the mentalist perspective on language learning. |
| Q2 | 20 | Discuss whether environment alone determines learning, considering factors associated with the learner. |
| Q3 | 20 | Describe language disorders that can hinder learning and explain how to recognise them in a classroom. |
| Q4 | 20 | Explain the Developmental Interaction Approach and compare it with other approaches studied in the course. |
| Q5 | 20 | Explain the Three-Language Formula and discuss its implementation in the country. |
This is a summary of each question. Download the official PDF above for the exact questions and word limits.
