About the research appointment

Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University has announced two Junior Research Fellow positions in its Department of Geology, School of Earth Science, at Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand. The MoEFCC-funded project examines paleoclimate and forest dynamics over the past 1,000 years in the Bugyals of the Garhwal Himalaya using a multi-site approach. Prof. N. K. Meena is the Principal Investigator.

Eligibility and fellowship

The recruitment is open to Indian citizens with a recognized master's degree in Geology or Applied Geology, at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade, and the specified national-level test qualification. Relevant postgraduates may also be considered if no GATE/NET-qualified candidate is available; applicants should consult the notification for the fellowship conditions attached to that provision. The upper age limit is 28 years, with eligibility assessed on 5 November 2026.

The advertised emoluments are Rs. 37,000 per month plus 9% HRA. The project duration is two years. This is a purely temporary appointment that ends automatically when the project concludes and carries no entitlement to regular employment at the university.
