Contractual medical vacancy at Salem Steel Plant

SAIL Salem Steel Plant has issued advertisement Adv.No.SSP/HR-2 (15)/2026/(2), dated 30 October 2026, for one General Duty Medical Officer. The OBC-reserved position serves the plant's 40-bed main hospital and Occupational Health Service Center in Salem. This is a contractual engagement and does not create any entitlement to a regular appointment.

Eligibility and engagement terms

Applicants must have the prescribed MBBS qualification and medical registration or practitioner licence with applicable register enrolment as on the advertisement date. The upper age limit is 69 years on 30 October 2026. Previous work experience is not essential, but relevant experience will be preferred. Former employees of SAIL or other organizations are eligible only if they did not separate through voluntary retirement and provide the specified supporting certificates.

The consolidated payment is Rs. 90,000 per month. The initial tenure is one year, with an extension of one year at the company's discretion; engagement under the same contract cannot exceed three years. Duties require at least eight hours daily for six days a week, or 48 hours weekly. Emergency work or service beyond normal hours does not attract additional pay. Private practice is permitted only when it does not interfere with assigned working hours.
