CSIR-NEERI Project Associate-II Recruitment 2026 – Walk-in Interview

• B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Computer Science or Environmental Engineering from a recognized university, with two years of qualifying R&D experience in industrial or academic institutions, science and technology organizations, or scientific activities and services; OR
• M.Sc. in Environmental Science or Botany from a recognized university, with two years of the qualifying R&D experience described above; OR
• M.E./M.Tech in Civil, Environmental Engineering or Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized university.
• The essential qualification must already be completed, with at least a provisional certificate available. Final-semester and result-awaited candidates cannot attend.
• Experience is counted only after obtaining the minimum educational qualification. Academic dissertation or thesis work and time spent acquiring a higher qualification do not count towards the required experience.

CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur has issued advertisement RECRUIT_SMG_5F_IT&DIU_30102026 for Project Associate-II (2.2 PAT-II). The position supports project GNP-3072, covering urban biodiversity studies and city Biodiversity Index assessment for Ara–Buxar, Bhagalpur and the Biharsharif–Pawapuri–Nalanda–Rajgir cluster in Bihar. One vacancy is announced; a second may be filled from the waiting list if funds permit.

Eligibility and work requirements

The available routes include specified engineering degrees or M.Sc. qualifications with two years of qualifying R&D experience, or an M.E./M.Tech in the listed disciplines. Experience must follow completion of the minimum educational qualification. Dissertation work and time spent obtaining a higher qualification do not count towards this requirement. Candidates awaiting essential qualification results or appearing in their final semester cannot attend.

The work involves ArcGIS and QGIS, web design, GIS map hosting and floral studies, including vascular, invasive and medicinal plants. The maximum age is 35 years, assessed on the last date for receipt of applications.

Interview arrangements

The walk-in interview is on 17.11.2026 at CSIR-NEERI, Nehru Marg, Near Ajni Square, Nagpur - 440020. Reporting is from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, and late arrivals will not be admitted after the gate closes.

Pay and engagement conditions

Monthly remuneration is Rs. 35,000 plus HRA for candidates meeting the specified NET/GATE or equivalent national-level examination conditions, and Rs. 28,000 plus HRA for others. Accommodation must be arranged by the appointee.

The engagement is temporary and ends with the project; it does not create a claim to a regular CSIR post. The initial offer depends on available funds, while extensions depend on funding and performance review. Selected candidates must complete medical examination and character verification formalities and sign a confidentiality undertaking.
