• Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
• Technical Officer: First Class B.E./B.Tech. in Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering; alternatively, First Class M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Physics or Chemistry. At least two years of documented relevant experience in Central or State Government research institutions, PSUs, autonomous bodies or universities is required.
• Technical Assistant Group II: First Class bachelor's degree in Science with at least one year of documented relevant experience in Central or State Government research institutions, PSUs, autonomous bodies or universities.
• Technical Assistant Group I: First Class Plus Two, Higher Secondary, VHSE or an equivalent qualification.
• Qualifications and experience must be held by 14 December 2026.
• OBC reservation requires a valid non-creamy layer certificate for the applicable date. EWS reservation requires an Income and Asset Certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.

Examination and result arrangements

All three examination tiers take place only in Thiruvananthapuram. Tier I has 100 objective questions over 90 minutes, with 2 marks for a correct response and a 0.50-mark penalty for a wrong response. Tier II carries 100 marks; only the first five attempted answers are assessed.

The combined written score, out of 300, determines shortlisting for the qualifying practical test. Its shortlist appears on the institute website and Main Campus notice board without individual messages. Final merit uses written marks among practical-test qualifiers. Candidates must bring their RGCB Admit Card and an accepted government identity card to every tier. Results and corrigenda will appear on the institute website, and successful candidates will be notified by email.
