About This Recruitment
The Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, has released Advertisement No. 02/2026 to fill 250 posts of Deputy Field Officer (Technical) by direct recruitment. The post is a Group B, Non-Gazetted job in Level-7 of the Pay Matrix, and total initial monthly emoluments, including allowances, are about Rs. 1,00,000 when posted at New Delhi. There is no written exam: applications are ranked subject-wise on GATE score, candidates up to five times the vacancies are called for interview, and final selection rests on GATE score plus interview.
Who Can Apply
- Candidates with a B.E./B.Tech or M.Sc. in a notified subject and qualifying marks in GATE 2024, 2025 or 2026.
- Your GATE paper must match the subject you apply under: CS for Computer Science / IT (112 posts), EC for Electronics & Communication / Telecommunication (112 posts), DA for Data Science / AI (10 posts), PH for Physics (5), ME for Mechanical (4), CE for Civil (3), CY for Chemistry (2), MA for Mathematics (1) and ST for Statistics (1).
- The upper age limit is 30 years on the closing date; relaxation applies to SC, ST, OBC, Central Government employees and ex-servicemen as per rules.
What To Do Now
- Download the notification and the application form from the official vacancies page.
- Type the form on A4 paper, fill it in English capital letters and attach self-attested copies of your mark sheets, GATE score card and other listed documents.
- Send the envelope by ordinary post to Post Bag No. 001, Lodhi Road Head Post Office, New Delhi-110003.
- Post it well in advance: the application has to reach by 15 November 2026. Unsigned or incomplete forms are rejected.
Points To Remember
- No fee is charged from any category, so there is no payment step.
- Because selection depends on the GATE score, apply under the subject whose GATE paper you actually qualified in.
- You may apply under only one subject. Interview date, time and centre will be sent to shortlisted candidates by e-mail.
- The job involves field postings with All India transfer liability, and medical standards for Group 'B' posts apply.
- Keep a photocopy of the filled form and the postal receipt until the selection process is over.
