• Applicants must be Indian citizens and meet the age, qualification and experience conditions as on 04.12.2026.
• A full-time Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized university is required; this educational requirement does not apply to deputation applicants.
• Experience in executing infrastructure projects is essential. Only experience acquired after the minimum educational qualification is counted.
• Experience in railway electric traction, general power supply, air conditioning, building electrification and road lighting projects is preferred.
• Eligible service backgrounds include Railways, other government departments, Central PSUs, Ports, government-controlled joint ventures and private companies, subject to the applicable service and grade requirements.
• CDA route: officers must hold PB-3 Rs. 15600-39100 with GP Rs. 6600, revised to Level 11; alternatively, PB-2/3 with GP Rs. 4800/5400, revised to Level 8/9, with at least 04 years of Group A or 08 years of Group B service in the grades.
• IDA route: officers must hold Rs. 32900-58000, revised to Rs. 80000-220000, with at least 08 years of managerial/executive service; alternatively, they must have spent 02 years in Rs. 29100-54500, revised to Rs. 70000-200000, and have at least 8 years of managerial/executive service.
• Deputation route for regular CDA officers: Senior Scale PB-3/GP Rs. 6600, revised to Level 11, with 05 years of Group A service or 8 years of Group B service; alternatively, GP Rs. 5400 with 11 years of Group B service.
• Private-company applicants must be at JGM-equivalent level or above, earn at least Rs. 1.25 lakh gross per month and have at least 12 years of managerial service. Their employer must execute infrastructure projects/railway works and have preceding-year sales turnover of at least Rs. 200 crore.
• Higher grade pay or scales received through ACP/MACP/NF are not counted for the service-grade criteria.
• Applicants must be physically and medically fit; selected candidates must undergo the corporation's prescribed medical examination.

Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation Ltd, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, has announced 2 Joint General Manager (Electrical), E5 vacancies through Circular No. 10/2026 dated 04.11.2026. The positions are available through absorption or deputation. Mumbai and Bhubaneswar have one tentative vacancy each, although posting can be anywhere in India.

This recruitment is for experienced officers and managerial professionals, not solely degree holders. Applicants must satisfy the relevant CDA, IDA, deputation or private-company service conditions. A full-time Electrical Engineering degree is required except for deputation applicants, and infrastructure project execution experience is essential. Railway traction, power supply, air conditioning, building electrification and road lighting experience is preferred.

The eligibility cut-off is 04.12.2026. The upper age limits are 50 years for absorption and 57 years for deputation. Private-company candidates must meet the specified position, salary, managerial-experience and employer-turnover requirements.

Interview, pay and appointment conditions

Absorption pay is Rs. 80000-220000 plus applicable allowances and PRP. Deputation pay follows parent pay and applicable deputation allowances. The stated term is 03 years, extendable under the rules, subject to extension of the immediate-absorption exemption beyond 01.11.2028.
