Recruitment and pay

WBPSC is accepting applications for 247 Industrial Development Officer posts in the Directorate of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises under West Bengal's MSME & Textiles Department. Advertisement No. 15/2024 remains the recruitment reference because the indicative notice was issued on 24 December 2024; applications are being accepted in November 2026. The posts are temporary but likely to become permanent. Pay is Level 10 under WBS (ROPA) Rules, 2019, ranging from Rs. 32,100 to Rs. 82,900. The starting basic pay is not the complete in-hand salary.

Eligibility and reservation

A recognized degree or Engineering/Technology diploma is acceptable, and the qualification must be held by 26 November 2026. The general age range is 18–44 years on 1 January 2024. Bengali reading, writing and speaking ability is required, subject to the notified Nepali mother-tongue exemption.

Examination preparation

The written test covers English, industrial safety and pollution control, environmental issues, physical science, computer knowledge, West Bengal's industrial scenario, and mental ability/arithmetic. It contains 100 one-mark questions in 90 minutes, with a 0.25-mark deduction per wrong answer. The interview adds 15 marks. Examination and interview dates remain unannounced. At the examination venue, candidates must carry their valid admit card and the same photo identity document entered in the application.
