• Candidates must also hold a Diploma, Advanced Diploma or PG Diploma in Industrial Safety from Central or Regional Labour Institutes, Government of India.
• Applicants must have retired from the Power Sector, Mining Sector, Infrastructure Projects, Government Sector or a State Department with safety management experience, at General Manager level or above: minimum E-8 or equivalent, or Pay Matrix Level 14 or above.
• At least 10 years of experience managing safety functions in construction and operation, or tunneling and underground construction works, is required.

About the engagement

NHPC Limited, a Government of India Navratna enterprise, is seeking a retired senior official for Consultant (Safety) duties under Advertisement No. NH/TA/04/2026. The consultant will work from the Corporate Office at Sector-33, Faridabad, and visit NHPC projects, power stations, offices and units, including those of its joint ventures and subsidiaries, when required. The engagement is temporary and does not create a right to permanent employment.

Who should consider applying

Selection, duties and contract terms

NHPC will shortlist candidates on relevant experience before an expert-panel interview. Duties include reviewing safety systems, hazards, emergency preparedness, contractor practices and safety improvement measures. The initial term is one year, with mutually agreed extensions permitted only up to age 65. Remuneration remains fixed during the contract. This is a full-time assignment, and other assignments are not permitted. Either party may end the engagement with 15 days' notice.
