About the recruitment
NIEPMD, Chennai, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, has issued Notification No. 07/2026 dated 23-10-2026. It covers three temporary consultant vacancies, with one position each in Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy and therapeutic rehabilitation. Eligible Indian nationals must apply online.
Who can apply
The Lecturer role requires an M.Phil in Clinical Psychology and valid RCI registration. For Tutor - Clinical Assistant, applicants need a graduate or postgraduate degree in Occupational Therapy; graduates must also have at least three years of teaching, clinical or research experience. The Rehabilitation Officer role accepts a Physiotherapy graduate degree or a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy, together with at least two years of relevant experience. Work involving persons with multiple disabilities is desirable for the Tutor and Rehabilitation Officer positions.
Application deadline and submission
The application period closes within 21 days from publication of the advertisement in Employment News. This deadline is tied to that publication, rather than simply to the notification date.

Pay and contractual conditions
Monthly consolidated remuneration is Rs. 60,000 for the Lecturer and Rs. 50,000 for each of the other two roles, without additional allowances. The terms provide a 3% annual increment and allow paid leave at 1.5 days per completed month of service. The initial engagement ordinarily does not exceed three years, with extension up to five years subject to General Council approval. These are full-time assignments, and another commercial assignment is not permitted during the consultancy.
