Recruitment scope

GSSSB is recruiting Additional Assistant Engineers (Mechanical), Class-3 for the Gujarat Maritime Board under the Ports and Transport Department. The two advertisements cover 7 vacancies: 6 regular posts under 463/2026-27 and 1 special-drive post under 464/2026-27. The special-drive vacancy is for Deaf and Hard of Hearing candidates who meet the disability certification conditions. Vacancy numbers may be revised by the Board.

A recognised Mechanical Engineering diploma or government-accepted equivalent qualification is required. Automobile Engineering diploma holders are also covered by the department's equivalence communication dated 8 September 2026. Applicants must additionally meet the computer-knowledge and Gujarati/Hindi language requirements. The general age range is 18–33 years, calculated on 9 November 2026; category-specific concessions apply under the relevant rules.

Examination and pay details

The competitive test will use CBRT or OMR mode. Part A carries 90 marks across reasoning and data interpretation, quantitative aptitude, and Constitution/current affairs/language comprehension. Part B assigns 120 marks to Mechanical Engineering subjects and applications. Candidates receive 180 minutes for 210 questions, with a one-fourth penalty for incorrect answers and a separate 40% qualifying requirement in each part.

The first five years carry fixed monthly pay of Rs. 49,600. The advertisements state different upper limits for the subsequent Level 7 scale: Rs. 1,16,600 for regular recruitment and Rs. 1,26,600 for the special drive, both starting at Rs. 39,900.
