The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board has released Advt. No. 461/202627 for 1663 Work Assistant (Class-3) posts in the Central Design Organisation, Gandhinagar, which works under the Narmada, Water Resources, Water Supply and Kalpsar Department. The online form opened on 15 October 2026 at 7 PM on the OJAS portal and closes on 29 October 2026 at 11:59 PM. The fee window stays open a little longer, until 11:59 PM on 1 November 2026, but the form itself must be confirmed by the 29th.
Vacancy Breakdown
Of the 1663 posts, 703 are unreserved, 160 for EWS, 443 for SEBC, 115 for SC and 242 for ST. Within these, 549 posts are reserved for women, 113 for persons with disabilities and 166 for ex-servicemen. Reserved posts are only for candidates who are originally from Gujarat.
Who Can Apply
- A diploma in Civil Engineering, or one of the equivalent civil diplomas listed in the notification, is required; a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering does not qualify.
- Basic computer knowledge as per Gujarat rules and working knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi are also needed.
- Age must be between 18 and 33 years as on 29 October 2026, with 5 years' relaxation for General women and reserved-category men and 10 years for reserved-category women.
Pay and Exam
Selected candidates get a fixed ₹26,000 a month for the first five years and then move to the Level-4 scale of ₹25,500-81,100. The exam is a single MCQ paper (CBRT or OMR) of 210 questions in 3 hours: Part-A (90 marks) covers reasoning and data interpretation, quantitative aptitude, the Constitution, current affairs and Gujarati / English comprehension, and Part-B (120 marks) covers civil engineering topics such as irrigation and water resource management. A quarter mark is deducted for each wrong answer, and you need at least 40% in each part.
What To Do Now
- Register on OJAS, fill the Work Assistant application and confirm it before 29 October 2026.
- Pay the fee online by 1 November 2026: ₹500 for unreserved men, ₹400 for everyone else listed in the notification.
- Save the confirmation number and fee receipt; the fee is refunded only if you appear in the exam.
