University of Allahabad Postdoctoral Fellowship Recruitment 2026Out

• Applicants must be Indian citizens with a Ph.D. from a recognised institution, with research in Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) or Information Technology/IT Enabled Services (IT/ITES).
• The Ph.D. must have been completed within the five years preceding the application closing date. First class at every earlier academic level and a consistently good academic record are required.
• Candidates who obtained their Ph.D. from the University of Allahabad are not eligible.
• Applicants must demonstrate research achievement through peer-reviewed publications and recognitions, and submit a proposal with clear objectives, outcomes and deliverables.
• Candidates in regular employment are not eligible. Those holding temporary academic or research positions may apply but must leave those positions if selected.
• Previous recipients of this fellowship under the scheme cannot apply.
• Preference is given to applicants with active industry links and proposals addressing industry-specific problems.

• Download the official notification and use the application form provided as Annexure-1.
• Pay the applicable fee online to the specified Punjab National Bank account and retain the receipt.
• Complete the form with personal details, addresses, academic records from Class 10 to Ph.D., applicable GATE/NET/JRF details, experience, research work, publications and the research proposal.
• Paste a recent self-attested passport-size photograph, sign the declaration and attach the required supporting documents.

Fellowship scope and support

The University of Allahabad has issued advertisement JK/645/2026 for one full-time Postdoctoral Fellowship in its Department of Electronics and Communication for the 2026-27 session. The position falls under the Visvesvaraya Ph.D. Scheme for Electronics and IT, Phase-II. It is temporary, non-transferable and tenable only in India.

The monthly fellowship is ₹1,08,393. Additional support includes a contingency grant of ₹1,00,000 per year on a pro-rata basis and travel support of up to ₹2,10,000 per year under the applicable norms. The tenure cannot exceed one year, and the scheme provides no extension.

Who can be considered

Indian citizens aged no more than 40 on their application submission date may apply. Their Ph.D. must concern ESDM or IT/ITES and must have been completed within five years of the closing date. A recognised institution, first-class performance at earlier academic levels and a strong research record are required. Ph.D. graduates of the University of Allahabad and previous recipients of this scheme's fellowship are excluded. Industry connections and proposals tackling industry-specific problems receive preference.

Submitting the application

Applications open on 28.10.2026. Use Annexure-1 of the notification, pay the applicable fee and assemble the CV, research proposal, payment receipt and self-attested supporting records. The proposal must identify objectives, expected outcomes and deliverables. Paste the required self-attested recent passport-size photograph and sign the declaration.

Send the packet by Indian post to the Head of the Department, Department of Electronics and Communication, Science Faculty, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj-211002, U.P. India. Receipt by 18.11.2026 is mandatory; posting it by that date alone does not satisfy the stated deadline. An emailed copy of the completed form, CV and supporting documents is also required.

Shortlisting and document conditions

The screening shortlist is tentatively due on 21.11.2026. The offline test will take place only on the university campus, followed by an expert interview. No TA/DA is payable for attending either stage, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by email.

The Matriculation/SSC certificate or board pass certificate is the only accepted date-of-birth proof. SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificates must be no more than six months old. The university may leave the fellowship unfilled if no suitable candidate is found.
