About the BNRI-103 assignment
The BNRI-103 assignment covers soil erosion, sand dunes, wind-erosion measurement, rainfall erosivity, contour wattling and artificial groundwater recharge. Tasks include explanations, a numerical calculation and a recharge-method design supported by a labelled diagram.
This tutor-marked assignment has five compulsory questions carrying equal marks, with a total of 50 marks. Each answer should be about 500 words. The assignment contributes 20% of the theory component.
What the assignment asks
| Question | Marks | Topic |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | — | Explain soil erosion, its processes and causes, and classify sand dunes by their shape, size and wind-driven movement. |
| Q2 | — | Describe wind-erosion measurement methods and compare the advantages of open-circuit wind tunnels with closed-circuit models. |
| Q3 | — | Calculate storm erosivity using an average rainfall intensity of 4 cm/hr, total rainfall of 10 cm and maximum 30-minute intensity of 6 cm/hr. |
| Q4 | — | Assess where contour wattling is suitable, explain its functions and discuss its contribution to drainage-line treatment. |
| Q5 | — | Explain artificial groundwater recharge and design a suitable recharge method for abandoned open wells with a labelled diagram. |
