• A master's degree with 55% marks in Museology / History of Art from a recognized university, or an equivalent qualification; OR
• A master's degree with 55% marks in Ancient Indian History / Sanskrit / Pali / Prakrit / Persian / Arabic / Archaeology / Anthropology / Fine Arts, an equivalent qualification or another allied subject from a recognized university, together with a Museology diploma/certificate from a recognized institution.
• Three years of experience in a museum of national or regional importance controlled by the Central Government, a State Government or a Union Territory is essential.
• This experience must include one year of practical work in the collection, conservation/preservation and exhibition of art objects.
• Museum research experience or published research work, along with practical training and experience in the relevant field, is desirable.

• Access the University's online application portal from 1 November 2026 and complete the Curator application by 30 November 2026.
• Upload the necessary documents and certificates, ensuring that the application is complete.
• Print the submitted form and attach self-attested testimonials, educational certificates and supporting documents.
• Put the application set in a closed envelope marked "Speed Post / Registered Post", mentioning advertisement R/2026/NTC-01 and the Curator post.

About the Curator vacancy

Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, a Central University at Sagar, has issued advertisement R/2026/NTC-01 for one unreserved Curator position in its Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology. The appointment carries monthly pay of Rs.40000/- and is purely temporary, on contract for no more than 12 months. It does not create a right to regular employment.

Who can apply

Applicants need a master's degree with at least 55% marks through one of the prescribed routes. A degree in Museology or History of Art is one route. Candidates with a degree in the listed allied subjects must additionally hold a recognized Museology diploma or certificate. Both routes require three years of experience in a government-controlled museum of national or regional importance, including one year of practical work covering collection, conservation/preservation and exhibition of art objects. The maximum age is 40 years, subject to Government of India / UGC relaxation provisions. Age, qualifications and experience are assessed on 30 November 2026.

Screening and appointment conditions

The Screening Committee may limit interview calls using its own criteria; minimum eligibility does not assure a call. Interview communication is sent only by email, and no TA/DA is payable. Candidates must produce original age, qualification and experience certificates. The selected candidate must provide the prescribed medical certificate from a Government Hospital/Board, and engagement remains provisional pending satisfactory character and antecedents reports.
