Eligibility / Qualification

  • Eligibility depends on the chosen fellowship; a qualification accepted for one specialisation may not qualify an applicant for another.
  • The postgraduate medical route generally requires a relevant NMC-recognized MD/MS or equivalent qualification and three years of prescribed post-PG teaching experience as Senior Resident or equivalent.
  • Relevant NMC-recognized DM/M.Ch. or equivalent qualifications are accepted for fellowships that permit the super-specialty route.
  • The dental fellowship requires a relevant DCI-recognized MDS qualification and the prescribed teaching experience.
  • Clinical research fellowships have separate faculty, medical, dental or nursing qualification, publication and other requirements. The part-time programme also requires the applicable departmental NOC and service bond.
  • Required qualifications, training tenure and experience must be completed by 31 January 2027. Applicants completing the required three years of experience after this date are ineligible.
  • Sponsored applicants must satisfy the applicable employment and sponsorship conditions.

Mode of Selection

  1. Stage I: Subject-specific CBT carrying 60 marks, with 60 MCQs to be answered in 60 minutes at Delhi/NCR.
  2. CBT marking: +1 for a correct answer, -1/3 for an incorrect answer, and 0 for unanswered questions or those marked for review.
  3. Stage I qualification: At least 50%; shortlisting for assessment is normally up to three times the advertised seats in the respective Open or Sponsored category.
  4. Stage II: Online Departmental Assessment through video conferencing, carrying 40 marks—20 for clinical/laboratory scenarios, 10 for spotting and interpretation, and 10 for viva.
  5. Final eligibility for admission requires at least 50% in Stage I and more than 50% overall across both stages. Absence from either stage leads to non-qualification.
  6. Final selection depends on combined marks, verified eligibility and the applicable seat-category conditions.
