About This Recruitment
The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh has issued Advertisement No. PGI/RC/056/2026/2690 (dated 16/10/2026) for 162 tenure posts for a maximum period of three years, under its January 2027 session exam. Most vacancies are for Senior Residents: 122 at PGIMER Chandigarh across 26 departments and 21 at the PGI Satellite Centre, Sangrur. The rest are 16 Junior / Senior Demonstrator posts at Chandigarh and 3 Senior Medical Officer posts. Sixteen Senior Resident posts at Chandigarh and one at Sangrur are earmarked for PwBD candidates.
Pay
- Senior Resident, Senior Medical Officer and Senior Demonstrator (Medical): Level 11, minimum ₹67,700 plus NPA.
- Senior Demonstrator (Non-Medical): Level 10, minimum ₹56,100.
- Junior Demonstrator: Level 6, minimum ₹35,400 (plus NPA for medical posts).
Exam and Selection
The CBT on 05/12/2026 has 50 questions of 1.5 marks each (75 marks) in 50 minutes, with 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer. Candidates are shortlisted department-wise and category-wise at three per post, their documents are checked, and an eligibility notice follows on 19/12/2026. Eligible candidates attend document verification and a 25-mark departmental interview and assessment (clinical evaluation, lab testing or structured viva) on 23/12/2026. You must score at least 40% (General/EWS) or 35% (SC/ST/OBC) in both stages; the final merit uses the 100-mark aggregate.

- Upload your Matric, 10+2 and higher qualification certificates, council registration, category certificate and, if employed, an NOC.
- Choose your exam city early, as cities are allotted first come first served.
Points To Remember
- Selected Sangrur candidates will have no claim to posts at PGIMER Chandigarh.
