About the recruitment

Kalakshetra Foundation is recruiting one full-time Tutor (Music) for Chennai. The post carries Rs. 35400-112400 under Pay Level 11 of the TN Government VII PC pay scale. This is an offline application process, and the completed form must reach the Foundation by 23 November 2026.

Who can apply

Applicants must have passed Class 10 and possess a diploma or degree in Carnatic Music from a recognised institution. The role requires the ability to accompany Kalakshetra's dance performances and dance dramas, read and write music notation, and teach practical as well as theory classes. Preparing and sending the application

Use the prescribed Annexure I proforma and fill it with a blue or black ballpoint pen. Affix a recent passport-size photograph and include another passport-size photograph separately in a cover. Attach self-attested copies of educational qualifications, age proof, Aadhaar, teaching or work experience testimonials, and relevant qualification certificates. Examination and skill assessment

The written examination contains 200 multiple-choice questions on Carnatic Music theory for 200 marks and lasts three hours. There is no negative marking, and the qualifying score is 100 marks. The 100-mark skill test lasts at least 15 minutes and covers Vocal/Mridangam/Flute, including Ragas, Talas and Mano dharma sangeetham. Candidates attending it must bring their own musical or percussion instruments or sruti box. Final merit uses 40% written-test weight and 60% skill-test weight.
