More Information
Recruitment scope
IUST has issued Detailed Advertisement Notice No. 09 of 2026, dated 29.10.2026, for 48 Assistant Professor positions. The recruitment covers 20 departments and centres, including languages, sciences, engineering, management, AYUSH Sciences, Planning, Geomatics, Molecular Medicines and KAST. KAST accounts for seven vacancies across Software Engineering, Solar PV, Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering and E&CE.
Check the exact discipline requirement
Applicants should match their degrees to the specific department rather than rely on a single university-wide qualification. Many departments specify a relevant Master's degree with 55% marks, while engineering and professional disciplines have different combinations of degrees and grades. KAST requires a Ph.D. and first class or equivalent throughout the preceding degrees. The starred Mathematical Sciences vacancies specifically require Data Sciences, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or Applied Statistics qualifications.
Complete both application stages
Online registration begins on 02.11.2026 and closes on 02.12.2026. Use a valid email address and mobile number, complete every applicable field, and check the preview carefully: editing is not permitted after submission. The processing fee is Rs. 1,000, with an exemption for PwD candidates.
After online submission, print the form and arrange self-attested enclosures in the sequence of the generated entry numbers. The Registrar's office must receive the complete hard copy by 07.12.2026 at 4:00 PM. Posting it before the deadline is not sufficient if it arrives late. Applicants already in employment must forward their application through their employer.
Supporting evidence and screening
Prepare the detailed CV, qualification records, applicable category certificate and experience certificates. Ph.D. holders need the prescribed Annexure certification; foreign degree holders must provide the relevant equivalence certificate. Originals must be produced at the interview.
Experience is assessed as on the application deadline. Time spent obtaining a PG, M.Phil. or Ph.D. does not count as teaching or research experience, although teaching alongside a research degree without leave can count with a Registrar's certificate.
The University may shortlist applicants using its scorecard before interview. Interview details will be announced through the official website or email, and no TA/DA is payable. Reservation follows UT of Jammu & Kashmir rules, including 4% horizontal reservation for persons with disabilities, subject to suitable candidates being available.
