About the MCO-03 assignment
The MCO-03 assignment covers all course blocks, including research design, measurement, data collection and presentation, descriptive statistics, and correlation. It also examines statistical concepts and issues affecting research quality.
This tutor-marked assignment has five compulsory questions worth 100 marks. Questions 1–3 each have two parts with a 10+10 mark split. Question 4 asks for five comparisons, while Question 5 requires four short notes; both carry 20 marks. The assignment contributes 30% to the final assessment.
What the assignment asks
| Question | Marks | Topic |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | 10+10 | Explain why research design matters, compare exploratory, descriptive and causal approaches using examples, and examine measurement, scaling and the usefulness of different measurement levels. |
| Q2 | 10+10 | Examine data collection methods and the relevance of primary and secondary sources, then explain how tables and graphs help present research findings. |
| Q3 | 10+10 | Discuss how central tendency and dispersion support business-data interpretation, and assess types of correlation alongside the strengths and limitations of Pearson’s coefficient. |
| Q4 | 4×5 | Compare nominal with ordinal scales, parametric with non-parametric tests, data editing with coding, discrete with continuous frequency distributions, and statistical independence with dependence. |
| Q5 | 4×5 | Prepare short notes on attitude-measurement problems, classification by place and time, scatter diagrams, and interpretation, generalisation and statistical fallacies in research. |
This is a summary of each question. Download the official PDF above for the exact questions and word limits.
