About This Update
JKSSB released Advertisement No. 08/2026 on 4 August 2026 for 518 posts in different departments of the Jammu and Kashmir Government, and the online application opened on 10 September 2026. The original closing date was 9 October 2026. After receiving representations from candidates, the Board issued a notice on 9 October 2026 extending the last date for submitting the online form to 24 October 2026 (11:59 PM).
Department-Wise Vacancies
- Health and Medical Education Department: 421 posts, by far the largest share.
- Higher Education Department: 48 posts.
- Agriculture Production Department: 46 posts.
- Labour and Employment Department: 3 posts.
Category-Wise Break-Up
The 518 posts are divided as follows: OM 221, SC 54, ST1 63, ST2 52, OBC 32, ALC/IB 22, RBA 38 and EWS 36. Candidates applying under a reserved category should keep a valid category certificate ready.
Who Can Apply
The posts carry different educational qualifications, so check the post-wise eligibility in the notification before choosing a post. Only domiciles of Jammu & Kashmir holding a valid domicile certificate can apply. As on 1 January 2026 the upper age limit is 40 years for OM, 43 years for reserved categories and 42 years for physically challenged candidates. The fee is ₹600, or ₹500 for SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD candidates.
What To Do Now
- Download the extension notice and the main notification.
- Log in to the JKSSB portal and complete the form before 24 October 2026, 11:59 PM.
- Pay the fee online and save the printout of the submitted application.
Selection Process
Selection will be through an objective-type multiple-choice written exam set in English, with one-fourth mark deducted for each wrong answer, followed by medical examination and document verification. The exam date and centres will be notified separately. Keep an eye on the JKSSB website for the exam schedule and admit card after the application window closes.
