About This Recruitment
Jharkhand Griha Raksha Vahini, Deoghar has issued Advt. No. 01/2026 for the new enrolment of 772 Home Guards in the district. Applications are online on recruitment.jharkhand.gov.in from 11 October to 26 October 2026 (5:00 PM). The notification makes clear that the Home Guard is a voluntary organisation: members are paid an allowance at the government rate only for the days they are called on duty, and it is not a salaried job or a regular livelihood.
Vacancy Highlights
- Rural Home Guard: 635 seats (318 men, 317 women) across 10 blocks; Senarayadhari has 104, Margomunda 98 and Mohanpur 78.
- Urban Home Guard: 137 seats (68 men, 69 women), 82 in Deoghar Urban and 55 in Madhupur Urban, split equally between technically skilled and non-technical candidates.
- 50% of seats are earmarked for women, and 5% of those for divorced, abandoned or widowed women.
- Up to 10% of urban seats can go to government employees, who get extra marks for education.
Physical Test
The physical test is marks-based. For rural and non-technical urban candidates, men score 20 marks for a one-mile run in 5 minutes or less and are out if they take more than 6 minutes; women score 20 for 8 minutes or less and are out after 10 minutes. High jump, long jump and shot put carry further marks, with easier standards for technical urban candidates. National and state level sports winners get 2 to 6 bonus marks.
After the Physical Test
Qualified candidates take a Hindi writing test at Class 7 level (rural) or Class 10 level (urban), which is qualifying with 30 out of 100 needed. Technical urban candidates also take a qualifying technical test. The merit list is followed by verification of documents, a medical check and police character verification, and selected candidates then undergo basic Home Guard training. Test dates and venues will be announced in daily newspapers, and results will be posted on the Deoghar district website.
