About the OVAL-004 assignment
The OVAL-004 assignment develops observation and drawing skills through studies of people, animals, birds, nature and manufactured objects. It includes rapid sketches, perspective, light and shade, two- and three-dimensional objects, and figures in motion.
Practical Assignment 1 requires at least 30 neatly mounted works: 20 sketches worth 10 marks and 10 drawings worth 20 marks. The PDF specifies 30 marks for this practical assignment, while the official listing gives maximum marks of 100 and a 30% weightage. The PDF also requires two internal assessments, with the average of both portfolios carried forward for final assessment.

How to write and submit it
- Submit the practical assignment to your Study Centre Coordinator within the stipulated time to be eligible for the term-end examination.
- The submission instructions give the postal address as SOPVA, Block-15G, IGNOU, New Delhi–110068.
- Include at least 20 neatly mounted sketches and 10 neatly mounted drawings, making a minimum portfolio of 30 works.
