• Senior Resident: PG Degree (MD/MS/DNB) or Diploma in the concerned speciality. If PG candidates are not available, an MBBS with at least 2 years' experience in a Govt./Govt.-empanelled hospital (at least 1 year in the concerned speciality in a Govt. hospital) may be considered.
• Senior Resident: must not have already completed 3+1 years of senior residency in any recognised institute; preference for 2 or more years of speciality experience in a Govt. hospital.
• Junior Resident: MBBS with 1 year internship completed on or after 29 October 2024; foreign degree holders must have passed the NBE screening test (FMGE), and are judged by their FMGE pass date.
• Both posts: valid Delhi Medical Council registration (a valid DMC acknowledgement receipt is accepted for the interview, but registration is required at joining).

• Download the notification and print the application proforma for Sr./Jr. Resident (MBBS) on page 5.
• Affix a passport-size photo and fill in your personal details, contact number, Aadhaar, email, internship completion date, category, any earlier residency and your qualifications from Class 10 onwards with marks, year and attempts.
• Enter your Delhi Medical Council registration or acknowledgement number, sign the declaration and list the enclosures.
• Attach the required documents and send the form by Speed Post, or deliver it by hand (10:00 AM to 05:00 PM, Monday to Friday), to the R&I Section, Prison Head Quarter, Near Lajwanti Garden Chowk, Janak Puri, New Delhi-110058, by 29 October 2026.
• Report at the Conference Hall, Prison Head Quarter, between 10:00 and 11:00 AM on your interview date with original documents and self-attested copies.

About This Recruitment

Delhi Prisons is hiring doctors for the Central Jail Hospital, Tihar, through a walk-in style interview drive backed by an offline application. Notice No. F.5(4)/RMO/CJH/TIHAR/2026/4013, dated 21 October 2026, lists 7 Senior Resident and 13 Junior Resident (MBBS) posts on an ad-hoc basis. Selected doctors may be posted at any Central Jail of Delhi at Tihar, Rohini or Mandoli, or at the Lampur Detention Centre. The notice says the number of vacancies may vary.

Who Can Apply

• Senior Residents: MD/MS/DNB or PG Diploma in Medicine, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology or Pathology, aged up to 45 years. MBBS doctors with 2 years of government hospital experience (1 year in the speciality) may be considered if PG candidates are not available.
• Junior Residents: MBBS with internship completed on or after 29 October 2024, aged up to 30 years (General/EWS). Earlier internship completers, other than FMGs, need not apply.
• Delhi Medical Council registration is required for both posts.

Nature Of The Job

The appointment is initially for 44 days or until the Centralized Recruitment Committee chaired by the Dean, MAMC, selects regular or contractual residents, whichever is earlier. It can be extended 44 days at a time, up to 3 years for Senior Residents and 1 year for Junior Residents. Services end as soon as committee-selected doctors join, in ascending order of interview merit.

What To Do Now

• Fill the proforma on page 5 of the notice and send it with documents so it reaches the R&I Section by 29 October 2026.
• Reach the Conference Hall, Prison Head Quarter, Janak Puri, between 10:00 and 11:00 AM on 2 November (SR) or 3 November 2026 (JR). Latecomers after 11:00 AM will not be interviewed.

Points To Remember

• Carry originals and self-attested copies of your 10th certificate, DMC registration, MBBS degree, internship certificate (JR), PG degree (SR), FMGE certificate (if applicable), experience and caste/PH certificates, and Aadhaar.
• Delhi OBC candidates need a current 2026-27 Non-Creamy Layer certificate from GNCT of Delhi; an application receipt is not accepted.
• Selected candidates must join within 7 days of the offer letter, and no TA/DA is paid for the interview.
