About the project appointments
IIT Delhi's Industrial Research & Development Unit has advertised three types of project positions under Advertisement No. IITD/IRD/296/2026, dated 23/10/2026. The notification does not print a vacancy count for the individual positions. The work is based in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering and is funded by CPRI, Bangalore.
The project, identified as RM0081G, concerns reducing foaming in flue gas desulfurization absorber units when biomass is co-fired in thermal power plants. Its stated duration is 18 months from 01.04.2026. Appointments are contractual and may be renewed yearly or until the project ends, whichever comes first.
Eligibility and working requirements
Applications are restricted to Indian nationals. Research Associate applicants need a relevant doctorate, while JRF/SRF applicants need a relevant M.Tech and NET/GATE qualification. Junior Project Assistant eligibility includes specified engineering degrees or diplomas, or the listed M.Sc disciplines. The qualifying marks requirement is 75%, with a possible 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates.
The NET/GATE note contains both a possible exemption for qualifying CFTI graduates and a restriction to NET/GATE-qualified candidates. Applicants affected by this wording should obtain clarification from IIT Delhi.
The work includes regular visits to NCR thermal power plants, sample collection, data analysis and chemical investigation of foam from FGD units. Coordination with IIT Delhi and NTPC plants is required; modelling and optimisation may use CFD simulation.
