About the MRUP-012 assignment
MRUP-012 is a four-credit project course in the Master of Arts (Russian) programme. It assesses your ability to gather material on a Russian-related topic and analyse or evaluate information from different sources. The suggested areas are Russian culture, history, literature and translation.
Choose one sub-topic rather than an entire main heading, and obtain approval for your topic and synopsis. The project carries 100 marks and has a maximum length of 4,000 words/12 pages. It may be written in Russian or English. An alternative sub-topic is also allowed with prior approval.
What the assignment asks
| Question | Marks | Topic |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Russian Culture | — | Develop a project on one cultural sub-topic, such as music, films, food, ethnic communities, culture in literature, lifestyle, sports, national symbols or Soviet nostalgia. |
| 2. History of Russia | — | Study one historical sub-topic covering Ancient Rus, the Bolshevik Revolution and its global influence, Lenin, Stalin, Soviet involvement in World War II, Glasnost and Perestroika, or the Soviet Union's dissolution. |
| 3. Russian Literature | — | Explore a period, theme or movement in Russian literature, or examine a chosen Russian writer's works alongside significant events in their life. |
| 4. Translation | — | Translate one short story or two poems between Russian and English/Hindi, or translate two technical, non-technical, social-scientific or newspaper articles/documents between Russian and English. |
